IndoorCatHub publishes independent editorial content about cat furniture, toys and enrichment for cats living in apartments, studio apartments, condos and rentals. Our goal is to help readers make practical decisions based on the realities of smaller homes, while being clear about what our assessments are based on and where their limits are.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of retailers, manufacturers and commercial relationships.
Affiliate relationships do not determine which products we cover, how products are presented, what score an individual criterion receives or what conclusions we reach.
We do not accept payment in exchange for a favorable assessment, a higher score or a preferred position in an editorial comparison. We also do not present paid promotional material as independent editorial content.
If our commercial model changes in the future, we will aim to identify advertising or sponsored material clearly rather than blending it into editorial content.
How we research
We begin with the problem a reader is trying to solve in a smaller home: limited floor space, the need to use vertical space efficiently, shared walls, installation restrictions, rental rules, cleaning or the need for meaningful indoor enrichment.
We then look at products that may address that problem and examine the evidence available for each one.
Depending on the product, this may include manufacturer specifications, independent sources and patterns found across published owner feedback. When sources disagree, we do not simply choose the figure or claim that makes a product look better. Where the disagreement matters to the assessment, we aim to make the uncertainty clear.
The four kinds of evidence we use
Not every statement rests on the same kind of evidence. IndoorCatHub distinguishes between four main evidence sources.
Manufacturer information
This includes dimensions, materials, weight limits, installation requirements, compatibility information and other specifications published by the manufacturer.
Manufacturer information can be useful, but it comes from the company selling the product and is not automatically treated as independently verified. Specifications can also change over time.
Independent research
This includes relevant third-party material such as published guidance, standards, independent testing or documented specialist information.
When independent research materially supports an assessment, we aim to identify the source so readers can judge it for themselves.
Aggregated owner feedback
We may look for recurring patterns across published customer and owner experiences — for example, repeated reports of instability, difficult assembly, unusual noise or durability problems.
We describe this evidence as aggregated owner feedback. We do not present other people’s experiences as our own, invent review counts or treat a small number of comments as proof of a universal pattern.
Genuine first-hand testing
We describe something as first-hand testing only when we have actually used the product ourselves.
When that happens, observations from our own use are identified separately from manufacturer information, outside research and owner feedback.
If we have not physically tested a product, we do not write as though we have. We avoid language such as “we found,” “we noticed” or claims about long-term wear unless they are genuinely based on our own experience.
How we identify the evidence behind an assessment
We aim to make the basis of an assessment clear enough for readers to understand where the information came from.
A full product guide or review may distinguish between manufacturer information, independent research, aggregated owner feedback and genuine first-hand testing. Shorter comparison sections may contain less detail, with the fuller evidence context explained in the accompanying product guide or review.
We do not assume that every statement has the same level of certainty, and we prefer to leave a point unresolved when the available evidence does not support a confident conclusion.
How we score products
Where we have a sound basis to judge a product, IndoorCatHub may score individual criteria from 1 to 5.
We do not calculate an overall score, average, weighted total or star rating. Individual scores are intended to show specific strengths and weaknesses rather than reduce an entire product to a single number.
If we do not have enough reliable information to judge a criterion, we leave it unscored rather than guess.
Product information and verification
Product specifications, availability and retailer information can change over time.
Where we show a “last checked” or similar verification date, that date indicates when we reviewed the relevant information. It does not guarantee that a product is still available, unchanged or offered under the same conditions today.
Readers should confirm important specifications, compatibility, installation requirements and current availability with the manufacturer or retailer before buying.
Prices
IndoorCatHub normally uses broad price bands such as $, $$ and $$$ rather than presenting fixed retail prices.
Prices can change frequently because of sales, retailer differences and availability. The retailer’s current listing should be treated as the source for the actual purchase price.
Corrections
If you believe we have published a factual error, please contact us and tell us what you think is wrong.
We review credible correction requests and correct factual errors when they are confirmed. When a correction materially changes the substance of an assessment, we may identify the update on the page rather than changing the conclusion without context.
Updates and freshness
Product information does not stay accurate forever. We may revisit a page when a product is materially changed, discontinued or replaced, when an important specification turns out to be incorrect, when better evidence becomes available or when a reader brings a meaningful issue to our attention.
Published pages may display an updated date when meaningful revisions are made.
An updated date indicates that the page was revised; it should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every specification or retailer listing was independently rechecked on that date.
Commercial relationships
Some links on IndoorCatHub may be affiliate links. When a link is affiliate, we may earn a commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate relationships do not determine our editorial scores or conclusions. When a commercial relationship applies to a recommendation, we aim to disclose it clearly near that recommendation.
If advertising is introduced in the future, it will be kept visually distinguishable from editorial content and identified as advertising.

Product images
We use product images only when we have an appropriate basis for publishing them.
A product may therefore appear without a photograph. The absence of an image does not affect its editorial assessment and should not be interpreted as a positive or negative signal about the product.
What our evidence cannot tell you
No product assessment can predict exactly how a particular cat, home or installation will behave.
Cats differ in size, age, confidence, play style and preferences. Homes differ in construction, available space and installation surfaces. Products can also vary between revisions or production runs.
IndoorCatHub’s assessments are intended to help readers make better-informed decisions, not to guarantee how a particular product will perform in every home or for every cat.
